The Philippine government has been pushing for small and large-scale businesses to shift to renewable energy. This has become more apparent last year as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a report indicating that “solar and wind energy and batteries have shown persistent cost reductions of up to 85% since 2010”.

Both the country and individual businesses stand to benefit from embracing renewable energy.

One such business that has taken the initiative to get their own renewable energy source is The Orchard Golf and Country Club. Their 99.9 kilowatt-peak (kWp) solar installation has been operating since early 2022 and has already worked wonders in generating clean energy and in turn, savings, to the exclusive golf club.

As of January 2023, their solar generating system has already generated more than 125,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of clean energy. This translates to around PHP785,000 in savings.

The solar facility is unique in itself as it uses state-of-the-art microinverter technology from Enphase. Each panel has their own microinverter which has a built-in rapid shutdown device—improving the overall safety of the whole solar facility, not to mention minimizing the need for high-voltage DC cables.  It also allows more precise energy generation report on a per solar panel level thru the use of an intelligent Monitoring platform which lets The Orchard easily observe the performance and effortlessly troubleshoot their solar system.

The Orchard Golf and Country Club is also known for being a champion for sustainability. As such, their solar facility also brings them forward in this venture by reducing their carbon footprint by 89 tonnes which is equivalent to planting 4,100 trees or reducing around 355,000 km in vehicle travel per year.

“Solar energy is one of the most accessible alternative sources of renewable energy. With it, Spectrum gives its customers more control over their finances by lessening their electricity bills. The savings that comes from having a solar installation can then be invested back to fund their core business.” said Patrick Henry T. Panlilio, Chief Operating Officer of Spectrum.

Spectrum offers tailor-fit solutions for industrial, commercial, and residential customers through an in-depth understanding of energy consumption behaviors and strategic partnerships with world-class technology partners.
