MSpectrum, together with Manila Water, has successfully completed the physical installation of an additional 3.8 megawatts-peak (MWp) of solar capacity across ten key facilities, marking another milestone in the Manila Water’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable energy use across its operations.

The newly installed systems utilize a grid-tied, own-use configuration, ensuring that all generated solar energy is dedicated exclusively to Manila Water’s operational requirements, subject to the completion of all necessary permits, licenses, and regulatory approvals.

The deployment spans critical infrastructure assets such as pumping stations and treatment plants, including Kingsville PS, Siruna PS, East La Mesa PS, Makati PS, Lucban PS, Calawis TP, East Bay TP, Taguig North STP, Marikina North STP, and Ilugin STP. These decentralized solar installations are designed to help mitigate rising electricity costs, particularly transmission and ancillary charges, while delivering measurable reductions in carbon emissions.

According to Manila Water President and CEO Jocot de Dios, the partnership sets a strong example for utilities in the region:

“This partnership can be a showcase not just in the Philippines but in the region as well. I want Manila Water to be a beacon in the Asia Pacific for renewable energy in a water utility company”, de Dios said.

MSpectrum Chief Operating Officer Patrick Panlilio emphasized the importance of long-term commitment in renewable energy initiatives:

“Being renewable is not easy. It requires commitment, investment in resources, execution excellence, and continuous monitoring—it’s not just install-and-forget.  At Manila Water, we recognize resilience and believe you are well-positioned to uphold this commitment. We are proud to be part of the legacy you are building, and you can be assured that we will provide support at every stage to help meet your requirements,” Panlilio said.

With the completion of this phase, Manila Water’s total installed solar capacity now reaches 6.3 MWp, including the 2.5 MWp Phase 1 installation completed earlier this year. The combined solar capacity is expected to offset approximately 5% of Manila Water’s annual energy demand, delivering long-term cost savings while supporting the company’s broader sustainability goals.

This collaboration also underscores MSpectrum’s commitment to delivering reliable, Meralco-backed solar solutions that enable large-scale organizations to achieve both operational efficiency and meaningful environmental impact.
